About The Stairlift Advisor
Our Mission
The Stairlift Advisor exists to give families the information they need to make confident stairlift decisions. The stairlift industry has historically lacked pricing transparency and independent guidance — most of the information available online comes from companies trying to sell you something.
We're trying to change that. Every review, every price figure, and every recommendation on this site is based on verified data and genuine editorial assessment. No stairlift manufacturer has editorial influence over our ratings or content.
How We Review Stairlifts
Our reviews use a five-dimension scoring framework, with each brand assessed on:
- Reliability (weighted 25%): Product build quality, breakdown rates, longevity, and parts availability. Based on manufacturer data, engineer feedback, and ownership longevity.
- Value for Money (weighted 20%): Pricing relative to features, warranty terms, and total cost of ownership including servicing.
- Aftercare (weighted 25%): Engineer network coverage, response times, service plan quality, and ongoing support quality. Trustpilot ratings are considered but not the sole factor.
- Comfort (weighted 15%): Seat design, ride quality, controls, safety features, and weight capacity.
- Product Range (weighted 15%): Breadth of models, specialist options, and innovation.
Scores are editorial judgments made by our team, not mathematical averages. We explain our reasoning for each score in the individual reviews. Overall scores are weighted averages of the five dimensions.
Data Verification
Every factual claim on this site is verified against current sources before publication. This includes:
- Trustpilot ratings checked directly on each brand's Trustpilot page
- Price ranges cross-referenced against manufacturer data and independent sources
- Grant amounts verified against official government sources
- VAT rates confirmed against current HMRC guidance
- Brand claims (founding dates, units sold, ownership) verified with the manufacturers
We maintain an internal corrections log and update our content whenever we identify errors or when source data changes. Every page shows its last updated date.
Editorial Independence
No stairlift manufacturer, installer, or advertiser has editorial input into our reviews, scores, or recommendations. Our editorial team makes all scoring decisions independently.
This independence is non-negotiable. If a brand's Trustpilot score drops, we report it. If Which? raises concerns about sales practices, we cover it. If a product has genuine advantages, we highlight them — even if that brand isn't our commercial partner.
How We Earn Money
The Stairlift Advisor earns revenue through referral fees. When you request quotes through our site, we may receive a commission from the stairlift company that contacts you. This is how we fund our editorial work.
This does not affect our reviews. We score every brand using the same methodology, and our Editor's Choice is based on genuine editorial assessment — not on which brand pays the most. Our lowest-scoring brand could easily be our best commercial partner; our highest-scoring brand could pay us nothing. The scores reflect quality, not revenue.

AI Content Disclosure
Our content is researched and drafted with AI assistance, then reviewed and verified by our editorial team and, where noted, expert reviewers. We believe in transparency about our process.
Specifically, this means:
- Content is researched and initially drafted with AI assistance
- All factual claims are verified by our editorial team against current sources
- Editorial judgments (review scores, recommendations) are made by our human editorial team
- We use AI as a tool for efficiency, not as a replacement for editorial judgment
We believe transparency about our process serves readers better than pretending AI doesn't exist in modern publishing. The quality of our content — its accuracy, usefulness, and honesty — is what matters, regardless of the tools used to create it.
